Have you ever had a mullet? It’s not so bad, if you’re into that sort of thing. AND if it is your choice . . .
One day my daughter Kyley, who was four at the time, decided to play “Beauty Shop.” This beauty shop was open to any and all willing customers at no charge.
Enter Sabrina, Kadence and Allie, Kyley’s younger sisters.
I was upstairs doing laundry so I don’t know exactly what happened next, except that it seemed to happen in the blink of an eye. Suddenly, four little girls had four little mullets!
None of them were very pretty but the one we grieved over the most was Sabrina. Her hair had been long and thick. The worst part, though, was having to tell Vicki, her mom. She had been at work that day.
I called Vicki.
“I’m so very sorry,” I began. “Kyley got hold of some scissors and gave all the girls haircuts.”
We talked a bit more and then I signed off. “I made Kyley sit in the bathroom for ‘time-out’ as a punishment,” I told Vicki. “I better go check on her.”
I hung up the phone and walked to the bathroom. All was quiet. I opened the door and saw green.
Kyley had found a discarded, but not empty, bottle of green fingernail polish. The one we had used for a Halloween costume when Tavish dressed up as ‘The Hulk.’ She wasn’t feeling remorseful at all! She was happily painting the bathroom green!
